Chess Patches

Our chess patches are designed for students involved in chess clubs, school teams, tournaments and other academic activities. They provide a traditional varsity-style way to recognize participation, competition and achievement on a varsity letterman jacket.

Choose from the available chenille, embroidery and felt colors on the individual product page to coordinate the finished patch with your school colors, chess team or jacket.

Select the chess patch design you want, then choose the available colors and personalization options shown on the product page. If you need a special color combination, lettering arrangement or another adjustment that is not shown in the standard options, include your instructions in the comment box during checkout.

If you are ordering patches with one of our varsity letterman jackets, we can sew them onto the jacket as part of your order.

The size listed for each patch refers approximately to the outside dimensions of the main chenille design. The top felt extends approximately 0.12 inch beyond the chenille, while the bottom felt extends approximately 0.30 inch beyond the top felt, so the finished patch will be larger than the listed chenille size. Designs using an additional felt layer may be slightly larger.

Chess patches can be placed on the front, sleeve or back of a varsity letterman jacket depending on the size and shape of the design. Most designs can also be adjusted approximately 15% larger or smaller when requested.

Our chess patches combine chenille, embroidery and layered felt to create the bold, dimensional appearance traditionally associated with varsity letterman jackets and school awards. Embroidered details help define chess pieces, lettering and other smaller elements of the design.

Varsity Chenille and Apparel has been producing chenille and embroidered products for more than 30 years. Each design is individually set up and manufactured to create a finished patch that reflects the competition, skill and achievement behind it.
